What our breast reconstruction patients are saying…
“The surgery was pretty painless, was a great success and has increased the quality of my life. Everyone in the office was kind to me…I missed seeing them all after everything was completed.”
I had cancer and had to have a mastectomy. I was recommended to this doctor for reconstructive surgery. He and his staff were incredible. They worked with my insurance company so that I paid very little, when he could have charged me a lot more. I was told by his office manager that this is what he does for his cancer patients.
He recommended that I have the DIEP Flap Reconstructive Surgery, which I did because I didn’t want foreign material in my body. The surgery was pretty painless and was a great success and has increased the quality of my life. Everyone in the office was kind to me and I missed seeing them all after everything was completed.
“There was no question…this was my choice for breast reconstruction surgery.”
I already had a negative body image before breast cancer. The mastectomy only added to that. Looking at other surgeons web sites, I was very hesitant to even enter the office. My daughter was with me, and we were both so impressed with the office staff, and then the surgeon, there was no question. So this was my choice for the breast reconstruction surgery.
The whole reconstruction was a very good experience from the first office visit. I was so supported and made to feel good about a bad situation.
“Dr. Basu’s attention to detail is extraordinary and he places his patient’s safety as a number one priority.”
Dr. Basu first performed breast reconstruction immediately following my bi-lateral mastectomy. While I was pleased with the results, the skin on my right breast did not survive, necessitating another surgery. This time, Dr. Basu performed a DIEP flap…although at this writing I’m only 9 days out from the surgery, the results so far are amazing.
It’s evident, even at this early juncture, that the scarring will be minimal, and the shape and size of the new breast is very natural looking. Dr. Basu’s attention to detail is extraordinary and he places his patient’s safety as a number one priority. In addition, his staff could not be more accommodating. From the insurance details, to scheduling of appointments…all aspects of my medical care have been handled with my health and well being at the forefront. Dr. Basu was very good about going over the procedures and spending time with me and my husband to make sure all of our questions were answered thoroughly. Although this has been a difficult journey, we could not be more pleased with our decision.
“Once I met him, I knew he was the surgeon I wanted to work with. His thoughtful and kind demeanor immediately put me at ease. His knowledge and expertise gave me the utmost confidence in his abilities.”
My mammogram showed a suspicious spot and a biopsy confirmed it was cancer. Even though it was very small and very early, I knew I would have a bilateral mastectomy. My risk of recurrence was way too high for lumpectomy due to my family history.
I immediately knew who to call and had my first appointment with Dr. Basu within two weeks of diagnosis. Once I met him, I knew he was the surgeon I wanted to work with. His thoughtful and kind demeanor immediately put me at ease. His knowledge and expertise gave me the utmost confidence in his abilities. He took great care to explain my options and why he felt I was a good candidate for DIEP.
Dr. Basu and his staff were always supportive and helpful. He is amazingly passionate about what he does, skilled beyond measure, and uniquely understanding and empathetic. I knew I could call anytime with concerns. He and his staff brought joy to an experience that was far from joyful. Most importantly, they made me whole. For that, I can’t thank them enough.
